As we get ready to begin the process of easing towards an end to lockdown, coming out of isolation and returning to normal, Olivia wanted to introduce some of the alternative faces you may see in the shop, and the other people who lend their support in-front and behind the scenes to keep OnlyWillow going and growing.

Olivia and her mum, Dawn, on the vintage fair circuit in 2015

I am Dawn and Olivia is my inspiring daughter who never stops trying to improve her business. I am so glad she is my daughter.

I’ve been helping support OnlyWillow from the beginning… on the market stalls, trolleys to car parks, in rain, sunshine and snow. It was all worth it to see where she is now.

Olivia and Dawn

I work full time, so I take holidays to assist Olivia with her business, usually covering in the shop to give Olivia a break. I am not as creative as she is, however, I would like to think I had value to her business. Before the new ready made white and rose gold packaging, I would help build and decorate the brown jewellery boxes with ribbons and the OnlyWillow logo, if there was a quiet moment in the shop.

Lockdown: it has been difficult and I have missed assisting Olivia with her business. I think though the horizon looks a little brighter, though we do need to be extra vigilant about health and hygiene. I don’t think it will go away for a long time ahead. I am however extra pleased Olivia has cared for her health during this pandemic, hats off to you Olivia, again a woman of strength!

Dawn’s Moon and Mountain ring

There is one item of Olivia’s that she made especially for me that I love and wear everyday, my Moon and Mountain ring.

Yet, my favourite thing about the products that Olivia makes has to be the personal jewellery she designs for her customers. The delight on their faces when they collect it from her shop makes my day. She gets glowing reviews from the jewellery she sends out around the world and I couldn’t be more proud. She is so creative and I can’t wait to see what else is to come!

We want to wish a Happy Birthday to Dawn, who celebrated her birthday earlier this week, although not in ideal circumstances. Some of you may have seen Olivia’s social media posts this week about her mum’s hospitalisation and we are all sending our thoughts and affection to Olivia and her family. Fingers crossed for a speedy recovery.

Hi my name is Siobhan, I’m 32 and live in West Yorkshire.

I met Olivia at the University of Huddersfield back in 2006, we were on the same course and specialised in the same textile discipline of weaving. We would later specialise further and separately into off-loom and on-loom weaving, but we had already solidified our friendship through a mutual love of crafting and having the odd cheeky drink with our lunch… In our final year we shared a house together and we often reminisce about that amazing year, since then we’ve either lived with boys or alone, and it’s just not the same.

Officially I am the new content writer for OnlyWillow. Olivia expressed a wish to expand her business, and one idea she had was through a blog. However, Olivia is extremely busy with all the many aspects of running OnlyWillow and could never find the time needed to regularly create a blog.

I am currently a fashion retail manager, and therefore during lockdown I have been furloughed, I have nothing but time and incidentally love to write. Who wouldn’t want to work with one of their best friends doing something you enjoy whilst helping them succeed and flourish? It was a win-win!

Unofficially, I have been a strong supporter of OnlyWillow since the beginning, on social media and with any advice or support I could give Olivia, especially from my experience working in retail.

In normal times, I work full time in Leeds, managing a team of 12 in a fashion retail store. During lockdown I have been able to spend time making small home and garden improvements, when the weather was better. I’ve been keeping crafty and catching up on a lot of TV, films and my favourite pastime, gaming. Usually I am also an avid reader but I haven’t been able to focus on reading so when i return to work and commuting that is something I’m looking forward to.

My silver Origami Swan pendant necklace, displayed here on another gift from Olivia

My favourite OnlyWillow product has to be my beautiful ruby and diamond engagement ring, but since I’ve already mentioned it in a previous post (see Our Wardrobe part 2), I’ll show you my second fave, my origami swan pendant necklace. It was given to me by Olivia as a gift a few years ago. I love it because I know it isn’t Olivia’s normal design style, which means she took extra time to create something she knew I would love and is personal to me.

Hi my name is Poppy! I’m 17 and currently finishing my A Levels. I met Olivia about two years ago, after I moved from Liverpool to Kirkby Stephen, we instantly hit it off. She was a regular in the restaurant I was waitressing in and every time she visited we never struggled for conversation. She eventually became like a big sister to me and after many amazing memories together I not can’t wait to start our new journey working together after lockdown.

During this time, I’ve become so motivated to get fit and healthy, and discovered some gorgeous new walks while getting lost on long expeditions with the dogs. I’ve been focusing on my studies and have become the next Mary Berry in the kitchen too! From homemade chicken burgers to white chocolate and raspberry cheesecake.

I am a sales assistant at OnlyWillow and work part time around my studies. I love to interact with customers and gift-wrapping special gifts.

Poppy’s Fave: Silver and rose gold star detail ring

My favourite product from OnlyWillow is this gorgeous star ring. It’s so unique and isn’t like anything I’ve seen before or anywhere else. I love that about all Olivia’s products, they are so special.

Last but not least, we have Olivia’s constant companion, Nala. When Olivia is in the shop, Nala is usually there keeping a close eye on things from the comfort of the studio.

Olivia’s best girl, Nala
